Left Dowry Creek Marina at 0935 in light rain and overcast skies. Rain soon stopped and day became partly cloudy. Entered the notoriously turbulent Neuse River for the 1hour, 15 minute crossing at 2000RPM and 15.5 knots. Best Neuse crossing ever! Seas never rose above one foot and winds were 10-15 knots off beam - had to use wipers but it was a nice ride. Idled through a very long no-wake zone for over 30 minutes, north of Moorehead. Stopped in Moorehead's Portside Marina at 2:45PM. Very balmy - got to wear shorts for a few hours.
Enjoyed a superb dinner in William's Restaurant. Usually, we eat at the Sanitary Restaurant, which has mainly fried seafood, but William's was SO much better. Glazed sheepshead for Kathy and a combo bouilliabaise and paella for me, followed by a chocolate tort!
