Catch-up Moored in Melbourne, FL

In St. Augustine, we had a delightful laid-back European lunch at the Spanish restaurant, Columbia, with our friends Don and Libby Galluzzi and Don's sprightly mother. After attending mass at the St. Augustine Basilica, we had a late brunch at Harry's, a old-town New Orleans restaurant (BURRRP). Hated to leave and not watch the NFL playoffs. Finally underway, we stoped in New Smyrna Beach Municipal Marina, 65 miles south of St. Augustine. It's probably the best marina on the ICW! Tonight, we're in Melbourne, Fl. Passed Cape Canaveral about two hours before we stopped. You can see the space vehicle assembly building over 30 miles away.

The weather has been cold - 40s at night, 65s in the day. Where the hell is the warm weather, we ran 1000 miles of the ICW to enjoy?

On the upside, we've seen many porpoises daily. The best experience was when we had porpoises pass in front of us and then run alongside our boat near Cocoa Beach - they were less than two feet abeam, swimming at 15 knots and Kathy could reach out to touch them - fabulous critters!! Kathy saw a manatee. I was busy following a narrow channel and didn't see it.

We're in Melbourne Harbor Marina tonight, watching Hi-Def TV. This cruising life is tough! We're "pirating" Wi-Fi, so pictures can't be uploaded.
