New Smyrna Beach, FL to St. Augustine, FL (M/M 775)

Underway at 9:00 AM, we left New Smyrna with light winds, calm seas and 44 degree temperatures from the passing cold front. Because of shallowness above Ponce de Leon Inlet on the ICW, we had waited until absolute high tide to transit that trouble spot.

Many slow zones for manatee habitats and no-wake zones gave us a six hour trip to St. Augustine. Fierce currents around the city's municipal marina, caused by a an abnormally deep low tide, made us decide to spend the night in protected Camachee Cove Marina which is located north of the inlet and St. Augustine's last bridge.

Still cool here, but we reached 62 degrees in bright sunshine.
