Ebb Tide II underway

St. Augustine, FL to Fernandina Beach, FL (M/M716)

Under a bright blue, windless sky, we left Camachee Cove at 9:00, cruising on flat seas under full sun. After a bit more than five hours of cruising, we tied-up at Fernandina's most economical fueling stop; Florida Petroleum. Their diesel fuel price is ten cents less per gallon than the nearby city marina. Florida Petroleum's price is $3.92/gallon!!!

Not much traffic on the ICW now, just a few northbound sailboats. For the past week, tidal ranges have been above normal, with low and high tides nearly a foot greater than usual. For Fernandina Beach, that means a tidal range over eight feet. We'll have to time our travel over the next week so that we're only underway during the mid to high tide cycle. Fortunately, tomorrow's low tides are at 6:00 AM and PM. That cycle will work to our advantage as we travel across Georgia and South Carolina.

Tomorrow, we'll cross the halfway point of our homeward voyage. Three months ago, we passed Fernandina Beach heading south ... now we're heading the other way. Weather forecasts for the next few days are good - that's a plus!
